I got into the darkroom yesterday. It’s a real nice experience–the cel doesn’t get reception, so it’s just me, my CD player and the safe-light. Working on a computer is great, but honestly, isn’t an experience that reminds me of the craftsmanship part of photography that much. Photography is wonderful in that it is equals parts craft, creativity, technology and observation. It IS creative, but that creativity is seen in the powers of observation. What is seen then is captured with technology and brought to fruition in the darkroom through craft. Anyway….that was not the direction of this post. The direction of this post was supposed to be to point out how most of my favorite recent photos are occupied, no surprise, by Rachel – my wife (and apparently, primary muse). Rachel is great for many reasons, not the least of which are that she is very patient with me and tolerant of my cameras.
