Last night was the latest Our Milwaukee “buy local” networking meeting. Rachel and I attended and met some real swell local business-people. Todd Leech, of Beans and Barley, and Nancy Quinn, our Urban Strategies, started the meeting with some encouraging news about the growth of Our Milwaukee membership. Judy Waterman, of Indulgence Chocolatiers, told us all about the amazing array of treats she brought for us to enjoy. Brian Waterman, of Davis/Kuelthau (attorneys at law) gave us a brief on how their firm could be of service to OM members.
Once the mingling began, Rachel and I had much delight in getting to know Deneen and Kevin Ritzow of INK Designs/thINK Apparel and Dirk from Satellite Crepes. Apparently, Dirk can hardly keep up with demand for crepes wherever he sets up his cart! Deneen and Kevin are doing some great, creative work with their screenprinting business–really, take a look at their site. They are creating “conscious apparel” and as anyone who knows me can attest, I’m a firm proponent of “conscious photography”, so we were on a similar wavelength.
Rachel and I also had good conversations with Julie Waterman of Indulgence Chocolatiers, who is taking the beauty of chocolate to new heights, and with Karen Gill, of Karen Cooks It— a personal chef who’s making great meals all around metro-Milwaukee.
It really was a fun evening and drove home the fact that Milwaukee is home to a number of really great businesses.
