Photo-Community: Avery and Miyazaki

These two gentlemen serve different markets in the photo-world, have different styles of shooting and different aims in the work they do. They’re both listed here though because they share a trait that helps to keep them as busy as they are–they’re NICE.

Merriam Webster says “nice” is “pleasing, agreeable, appropriate, fitting, polite, kind.” Yep, that sums these gents up. Kevin Miyazaki and Mark Avery are nice to talk with, to be around, to work with. Yes, they are both talented photographers, but the point today is that NICE counts. NICE makes people want to work with you and work with you again. Almost anybody can get a client, but to make that client a return client? That’s more difficult. These guys know how to do it.
So, for today (and all days, really), I say “hip-hip-hooray” for NICE.

In the photo of bearded Mr. Avery, he’s showing me a book of poems by Naomi Shiab Nye. Whenever Mark and I meet for breakfast, he always brings a poem to share. This time it was Nye’s “Famous.” Go read it–it’s excellent and thought-provoking. Mark has recently released a series of cards that are well-worth your time to check out. Check out his Facebook page HERE.

In the photo of the bespectacled Mr. Miyazaki, he’s just gotten done teaching a photo-class at MIAD. Like Mr. Avery is, Kevin is also very generous with his knowledge and with his gifts. Check out the latest way Kevin’s helping make the world a better place through print sales. Check out Kevin’s blog HERE.
