Last night was another swell Our Milwaukee networking meeting. This one was special though, as it was the first outside meeting that I’ve attended. The North Point Lighthouse, in Lake Park, was the meeting’s site and it was lovely! The meeting, as like past events, was populated with concerned, generous, and community-minded business owners. There were founding members present from Alterra, Beans & Barley, the Brewery Credit Union, Laacke & Joys, Lakefront Brewery, Outpost Natural Foods and thePabst Theater–as well as new members like VanderBloemen Creative and Stack’d Burger Bar. Besides having a few reports from the OM board about our growing membership (just under 200 now) and the success of the current promotional campaign, we also had the first OM Group Photo.
Knowing about OM is good, visiting the website is good, SEEING the OM members is great! The people depicted below are business owners who CARE about Milwaukee. These are the people who want to see Milwaukee thrive, to see its unique neighborhoods and businesses find success. These people want to provide good jobs, great service, and to contribute to the “flavor” of Milwaukee. These business owners understand the value that small and locally-owned businesses bring to the local economy.
When you need services or products, PLEASE, make it a habit to check the OM Member Directory first- – there’s a plentitude of businesses eager to serve you!
Our Milwaukee member business are not disimilar from the lighthouse we met at. Similar to a lighthouse guiding boats to safety, OM members help consumers find great products and services. A lighthouse occupies a special place in our cultural memory as something worth preserving and honoring, just like small and local businesses. A lighthouse stands out from its surroundings, and with their values, so do OM businesses stand out from their competitors.
Locally-owned businesses are invested in Milwaukee; please invest in them!
I got to speak with these great OM members, who you can follow on Twitter, if you like:
