Pride of Milwaukee: Milwaukeeans Moved to Action, part 1

Tonight’s “Pride of Milwaukee” declaration goes to the women, children and men of Milwaukee who are concerned enough about their state and its future to come out onto the streets and protest.  These people are impassioned, they feel strongly, and they are willing to express those feelings with their non-violent actions.  These people make me proud to live here.

Very exciting was to encounter three of Milwaukee’s talented photographers at the protest: Drew Van Wyk, Tom Fritz and John Ruebartsch. I also saw Don Liebold, the teacher who also organizes the comicbook-reading-club at Washington Park Library.

Two particular standouts (both in the 3rd gallery)were—the participants who created a giant “pink slip” to give to Governor Walker and the young woman who did a series of yoga movements on the cold pavement. Apparently she had her about 6 other yoga enthusiasts doing this in Madison, so she, by herself, brought that to Milwaukee.

Additional photos from tonight’s protest can be seen here-2 and here-3.
