Back in 2006, Rachel and I traveled to Washington D.C. for the 4th of July; the national capitol seemed like a good place to experience our country’s Independence Celebration. While there we managed to visit a number of the significant landmarks, along with thousands of other tourists. We did a walking tour of the Mall, saw the White House and Washington’s Monument, visited Georgetown, and the Arlington National Cemetery, among many other stops.
On the day we visited the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, I made one of my more memorable images from the trip. As we approached the site, the wind suddenly picked up and a rain shower quickly commenced. This sent us, along with many other tourists, hurrying to the cover provided by the memorial. While in a proximity to each other that was far from standard, I made the B+W image below. This was shot with a Leica M6TTL, with 28/2 lens. You can see the camera around my body in the snapshot Rachel made of me around the same time, and a snapshot I made of her.
