This past week, I spent some time volunteering on behalf of the Creative Alliance, at the Biztech Expo held at the State Fair Park’s Exposition Center. Volunteering for the Creative Alliance brought together a few of my passions–how well photography can communicate an idea, the vibrancy of local businesses, and the importance of creativity in business success. The Creative Alliance is a non-profit that works to bring together the business community and the numerous and varied creative professionals in SE-WI in order for them both to find greater success and profit! As the Alliance declares, this is “Where Creativity Meets Commerce in Southeast Wisconsin.”
The Alliance’s need for a photographer was in their “get you in the booth” effort–they had created a number of hand-held word-balloons that subjects could hold, telling how they personally engaged with creativity from a business standpoint. It was quite fun and people seemed to enjoy figuring out which balloon they wanted to hold. While doing this project, for a mere three hours, I got to meet a LOT of interesting people. There was Laurel Osman (of the Creative Alliance), Vicky Shokatz (of the Buzz Monkeys), Joe Hill (of the green-minded printers, BudgetPrint), Angel Cardenas (of Sundial Software), Ronald Kolman (of RK Media), Alysha Schertz (of the BizTimes Milwaukee), Colin Deval (of Core Creative) , David HB Drake (noted musician and educator), Scott Patrick and Kim Bednarski (local photographers), Bill Finn (of Finn Digital) and Claudia Guzman (of Radio Milwaukee).
Below are the photos I made at the Expo, look HERE to see more pics and info from the Creative Alliance! I think if Milwaukee, and WI in general, would realize how much value there is in our green and creative businesses, this state could find MUCH success!
