This late-summer/Fall is looking to be quite busy with photo-educational opportunities in Milwaukee! I have been teaching adult photo-education since 1997 and enjoy sharing my photo-knowledge with people. Here is what’s on my calendar…
August 3-October 26, 2011
Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30p
“A Guided B+W Darkroom”. This wet darkroom experience is hosted at Cardinal Stritch University, through cooperation with the Fine Arts Department. The class is open to experienced and beginning dark-room students. Stritch’s darkroom is quite nice and provides a great facility to learn classic B+W printing. The cost for these 13 nights of instruction will depend on how many students sign up for the class. If 4 or less students enroll, the cost will be $150. If 5 or more sign up, the class will only cost $100. Please contact me at troyfreund at gmail dot com for more information!
August 16+23, 2011
Tuesdays from 6:30-9:00p
“Don’t Be Scared of Your DSLR” is a two-night seminar introducing many basic photo-concepts to new DLSR owners. This seminar is hosted by Mike Crivello’s Cameras, located in Brookfield at 1811o W. Bluemound Road, Brookfield (just east of the Olive Garden). The two-night seminar costs a mere $30 for 5 hours of workshop! I have taught this workshop every month since April of this year, and every month it has sold-out. Call 262-782-4303 for more information and to register.
Sunday, 8a-4p, October 9, 2011
An Analog Photo Seminar (Large Format, in particular)
This one-day seminar is being organized by me and hosted by the Photo-Department of Cardinal Stritch University. Even though digital is the main word in photography nowadays, there are still a number of photographers who see value in the traditional analog practices of photography, particularly in large-format photography.
This seminar will feature presentations and demos by WI film-based fine-art photographers. Dr. Yong-ran Zhu and Mark Brautigam will both present on their experiences in large-format photography. I will talk about the experience of working Leica M6TTL rangefinder cameras and there are one or two more presenters to be confirmed yet!
Each photographer will give a 30-40 minute presentation of their work, followed by a short Q&A session. The afternoon will be spent with each photographer giving a hands-on demonstration of their working methods. The tentative schedule is as follows:
Cost for this workshop is $25/person, must be paid in advance.
Here are some photos from past workshops I’ve organized!
