Milwaukee appears to be quite a hot-bed for creatives lately.
Wednesday, July 20: Last night there were THREE different networking events going on. The Creative Alliance was at Fred’s Pub; see their blog post HERE. Newaukee, a group for young professionals new to the Milwaukee area, and Fusion, a group for models/photogs/stylists/ADs/etc, both happened to have events at the Pabst Brewery “Best Place.” This morning then, I was up bright and early to attend Our Milwaukee‘s “Third Thursday” members’ networking event. From the attendance at the Fusion/Newaukee events, and at Third Thursday, it’s pretty clear that Milwaukee is home to a LOT of excited, social, creative and independent professionals!
At the Fusion/Newaukee event, I met Lois Bielefeld, the founder of Fusion, and also saw Katie Donoghue and Angela Damiani, amongst many, many others. Best Place, despite its lack of A/C, seems like a really good place for special events like this–it’s a real unique environment with two patios and plenty of rooms for public or more private conversations.
Thursday, July 21: This morning’s Our Milwaukee “Third Thursdays” event was, as always, attended by some great values-driven, community-minded business folks–designers, photographers, marketers, hospice care, fur sellers, printers and others! I saw people from: Gravity Marketing, Horizon Hospice Care, Laacke & Joy’s, Corey Hengen Photo, Stephanie Bartz Photo, Lone Shoe Graphics, Heritage Printing, and Ugent Furs. You can see what other great businesses are Our Milwaukee members here.
Friday, July 22: Gravity hosted their monthly Coffee/Networking meeting this morning at their swell Pritzlaff Building location. A variety of business people showed up–Swagger Promotions and Wind Healing Touch among many others! I also got to chat with local creative John Gregor Jr. and with Sherry Brisch of Footlights/Marcus Promotions. As always, there was free Stone Creek Coffee!
