I made these portraits of my parents in June 2009, at the same time I made this portrait of my grandpa. I’m not sure why I haven’t posted them before, but this lovely post from the New York Times moved me and so here we are. I love my folks and wanted to make a portrait along the lines of a Karsh portrait–something that would last through the years.
I have also included a few other portraits here–Grandpa Arseneau (2009), Grandma and Grandpa Arseneau (1996), Grandpa Freund (1996), and Loyal Villock (2009, Grandpa Arseneau’s buddy).
Take photos of the people who you care about. Even more importantly, TELL THEM that you care about them. Don’t ever let someone doubt what they mean to you.
