If you like trail running, mark your calendar for July 7, 7:30a. I’ve been training for a few months to run a trail half-marathon, but have never intended to actually sign up, pay entry fees, and run a “real” half. Instead, I planned to map out a 6.51 mile course, run it twice and declare myself a half-marathoner. Now that the Go Date is nearly here, I figured maybe some other runners might like to partake in this run. So, if you’re interested in trail-running, come on out on the morning of July 7th and run around 13.5-14 miles (or whatever distance you like) along the Milwaukee River.
- Here is the course map – we’ll be starting at the NE corner of Gordon Park, near where Locust St. crosses over the river. Starting line will be at the top of the hill.
- Here is a link to the course directions, and here again is the map of it.
- If you don’t want to run the full half-marathon+ length, but just want to be part of the trailrunning community, come out and run a portion. There are lots of people who like to run, but not everyone wants to run far – come out – run 2 miles, run a 5k, run 10 miles – whatever you dig! The important thing is to come out! This is a non-competitive “race”, more about having a fun, safe time than having a fast time.
There will be no awards. There will be no support teams, aside from any friends you bring with you. There will be no timers, aside from what devices you wear on your person. Significantly, there will be no screen-printed t-shirts letting the world know that you ran the Riverwest Trailrun+.
If you want to be a part of this excellent adventure, go check the event page on FBook and RSVP!
