The most recent Local First Milwaukee “Third Thursday” networking event was held at the new Outpost Natural Food Co-op in Mequon. And, wow, what a store it is! So much thought has gone into the design of it — very impressive. They worked real hard to make it as “green” a building as they could – there’s clever re-use of materials, energy efficient features, vegetables grown on-site, rain-gardens surrounding the building, a charging-station for electric cars – really, they’ve thought of pretty much everything! They worked with Retailworks, another LFM member, to do much of the in-store retail-space design.
Businesses I saw present were: Wellspring Farms, Vesta Senior Network, CEO, My Puppy’s Secret, Stephanie Bartz Photography, Kelly Andrew Consulting, Eclat Enterprises, Brew City Boxes, and Becky’s Blissful Bakery. Besides connecting with lots of other great, local-minded business owners, we were all treated to an informative tour of the store, highlighting all their green/efficiency/sustainable efforts.
