I’m all ready for another great year of MKE Creatives. Unless stated otherwise, the meetup is at Anodyne Coffee, on Bruce St., with general networking from 10:00-10:45, presentation from 10:45-11:00-ish, then more chit-chat till noon.
Presenters TBD, though most of them have already been approached. 🙂
January 6 – Rosie Hartmann is going tackle social media and promotions for the creative. It is not like a normal business so don’t treat it like one.
Februrary 10 – Evening event at Draft & Vessel in Shorewood – should be MUCH fun! RSVP HERE
March 9 – Kaleigh Rae Gamache – local opera singer, photographer, and all-around nifty woman.
April 6 – Mark Bradford, known by many here as a long-time attendee of MKE Creatives and that guy with an insatiable curiosity and a 1,001 business ideas. He has another venture now, that he’s going to talk with us about – something that will probably help most of the creatives I know – a tool to help balance the demands on our time better.
May 4 – Gun Cotton Tintypes: Eileen Blom and Margaret Muza are making portraits in Milwaukee after taking a workshop in New York on the wet plate process. The method is as old as the Civil War and the images can last 150+ years. It involves long exposures and images made directly onto metal plates that cannot be duplicated. Margaret and Eileen continue to learn this old method that has recently made a revival and are creating portraits to become heirlooms for generations to come.
June 8 – Stacy Williams-Ng – painter, Lynda.com all-star, and program director of the new Black Cat Alley.
July 6 – Creatives Roundtable
August 10 – Molly Collins and Emilio De Torre, of the WI ACLU, are going to talk about how art and creativity frequently factor in to the civil rights work they do!
September 7 – Mark Bucher, founder of the Boulevard Theatre and “Milwaukee personality”, will talk about the trials and tribulations of running a theatre for over 30 years.
October 9 – EVENING SOCIAL, 6-8p.m. – Family-friendly – bring the kids to Bounce Milwaukee for some bouncy-house, laser tag, and rockwall-climbing, while the adults enjoy some adult beverages in the bar-area. – No admission fee for those coming to socialize; normal use-fees apply if you want to enjoy Bounce’s facilities!
November 9 – Paul Akert, storyteller, toymaker, real-beard Santa, and one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, is going to be our presenter!
December 7 – Kerri Grote is a former music major, broadcast journalist, and corporate communications manager who now relishes her time and freedom as an independent writer, communicator, and storyteller who recently added improv comic to the list. There’s also that pie baking for the sheer joy of it thing. Most of this has occurred not at all by design. She’s a teensy bit scared but mostly excited to see which direction the universe might nudge her in next.”
