May 6, 2017 was the SIXTH MKE Cosplay 5k to happen since 2014! This was a pretty exciting achievement for the event, as it has gone on solidly twice a year for THREE YEARS now! The participants have made a difference to SEVEN different non-profits in the Milwaukee area, and run/walked in six different parts of Milwaukee – downtown, Bay View, Riverwest, Wauwatosa, Sherman Park, and now, Walker’s Point.
We had a beautiful day for the run/walk – sunny and cool. This time we were benefiting the folks at CORE El Centro, which is only a block away from our start/finish at Anodyne Coffee. CORE El Centro provides wholistic health services to people of income levels, and teach a variety of skills to improve peoples’ lives. I was quite happy that two staff members from CORE were able to attend the event; they were quite impressed, as this was their first exposure to “cosplay.”
There were some great costumes, many donations, and a whole lot of fun!
The next MKE Cosplay 5k will be OCTOBER 29!
Nancy Aycock, Linda Catterson, and Dan Wilson were all nice enough to make some photos of the event – see their efforts HERE and HERE. Below are a few of the snaps that Nancy and I made, and a few pics from Lost World of Wonders (where I went afterwards to celebrate National Free ComicBook Day)! 🙂
