I’ve been making on-location portraits for editorial and commercial clients since 2001. I’ve worked for local newsweeklies, trade publications, in-flight magazines and design/marketing firms. I’m happiest, work-wise, when on assignment for a good photo-editor, exploring some understated or under-appreciated aspect of the Midwestern United States. Assignments have taken me from Utah to Pennsylvania to Florida and back to Wisconsin again.
I especially like to work with clients who share my ideas and values, and this means that I am often working with a variety of Milwaukee non-profits to document their events, illustrate their annual reports, and showcase their various initiatives. I’m very happy to work with clients and non-profits who work on socially progressive issues.

I spent 8 years on the board of directors of Local First Milwaukee, 10 years on the board of directors of Artists Working in Education, and has been a volunteer tutor at Literacy Services of WI since 2011. For four years, I organized the monthly MKE Creatives meetup (see the blog here), and for 5 years, organized the twice-yearly MKE Cosplay 5k.
I have also served as the social media manager, for varying lengths of time (6-months to multiple years), for Mike Crivello’s Cameras, A Wealth of Nature, Local First Milwaukee and MKE Cosplay 5k. I managed Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spoutible, Bluesky, TikTok, and Facebook presences.
